Privacy#

icly.dev is a personal site for project notes and bot development. This page explains what data the site collects and why.

You can sign in only through Discord or GitHub OAuth. We store your provider handle (the unique username used to identify you), your provider account ID, and your avatar URL. We never store your password or other provider data, and neither provider can access your account on this site.

Comments#

When you leave a comment, we store its text, the provider handle and avatar displayed with it, and your voting history on comments. Comments are public: anyone visiting the page can read them. Unlike the previous version of the site, we do not record IP addresses or browser user agents, and we do not run automated spam scanning.

Docs feedback#

You can highlight text in the docs and submit feedback. If you sign in with GitHub, your browser opens a pre-filled public issue on GitHub under your own GitHub account; the site itself stores nothing. If you sign in with Discord, the site files the feedback for you: the text you wrote is published as a public issue in the icly-dev/content repository on GitHub, posted under the site owner's GitHub account with a credit to your Discord handle, and a copy is added as a public comment on the page so you can follow up. Replies to that comment are handled like any other comment. The site also keeps a private record of which replies you have dismissed. Once feedback is on GitHub, GitHub's privacy policy applies to it.

Anonymous visits#

The site does not track anonymous visits: it uses no cookies, analytics, or per-visitor records. We do not count or store anonymous browsing activity.

Cookies and browser storage#

A session cookie lets the server recognize you between requests while you are signed in. Your browser also stores your theme preference (light or dark) locally. This information stays on your device.

Third parties#

Cloudflare serves the site, handles connections, and may keep edge logs, as other CDNs do. Discord and GitHub receive only the information their OAuth flows require. If you submit docs feedback while signed in with Discord, its text and your Discord handle are published on GitHub as described above. We do not run ads or third-party analytics scripts.

Retention and deletion#

Comments remain until you or a moderator deletes them. To preserve the conversation, a deleted comment is replaced with a [deleted] placeholder. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time using the contact options below.

Children#

The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If you have questions or want to request deletion, contact us on GitHub (github.com/icly-dev) or Discord.
