Who we are
icly.dev is a personal site for project notes and bot development. This page explains what data the site collects and why.
Account data (login)
Logging in happens exclusively through Discord or GitHub OAuth. We store: your provider username, your provider account ID, your avatar URL, and a synthetic email address used only to satisfy WordPress internals. We never store your password or any other provider data, and neither provider is given access to your account here.
Comments
When you comment, we store the text you wrote, your display name and avatar, and your vote history on comments. Like most comment systems, WordPress also records the IP address and browser user agent of comment submissions for spam detection.
Anonymous visits
The footer shows a running total of page views delivered by the server. That counter is a bare number: no IP addresses, no cookies, and no per-visitor records are stored for anonymous visitors. Views shown from your device’s offline cache are not counted.
Logged-in activity
While logged in, the site records the time of your last activity and the page you are currently viewing, so the footer can show how many people are online and on each page. This data is kept for five minutes and then discarded automatically.
Cookies and browser storage
Login requires a session cookie. The OAuth flow sets a single-use cookie that expires after 10 minutes. Your browser also stores, locally only and including but not limited to: your theme preference (light or dark), which comment threads you collapsed, and (if you install the site as an app) cached pages and assets for offline use. All of that data stays on your device.
Third parties
The site is served through Cloudflare, which handles the connection and may keep edge logs like any CDN. Comment spam checks use Akismet (Automattic). Discord and GitHub only receive the information their own OAuth flows require. We run no advertising and no third-party analytics scripts.
AI tools
The editor’s AI tools send the text you select, or the page content you are editing, to DeepSeek (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd.), the third-party AI provider, to produce the result you asked for. Research requests also send the topic and perform web searches on your behalf. This site is the controller of this processing, and your use of the AI tools is subject to DeepSeek’s API terms of service and privacy policy. DeepSeek may store or process this data on servers outside your country under its own policies. The site itself does not store AI requests; it keeps only a count of how many AI requests each account makes per hour and per day, plus an anonymous daily total, to enforce usage limits.
Retention and deletion
Comments stay until you or a moderator deletes them. You can delete your own account at any time from your profile page; this blocks your provider identity from logging in again and replaces your comments with a [deleted] placeholder, like Reddit.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Contact and changes
